MORNING
Psalm 122
B1 What does this mean?
C1 The men and people of Israel needed to make 3 journeys a year to Jerusalem. Those days are Passover, Pentecost, and Feast of Tabernacles.
C2 We are still to pray for Jerusalem and peace.
C3 If Jerusalem is peaceful, so are the residents.
C4 The only lasting peace is peace with God which leads to a godly society.
D1 Romans 5:1 NIV Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
D2 Philippians 4:6-7 NIV Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
B2 How do I apply this to my life? We should pray for our leaders, too, for wisdom so we can live in peace and safety and as Christians. 1 Timothy 2:1-2 NIV I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people– 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.
EVENING
John 10
B1 What does this mean?
C1 The Good Shepherd and the Sheep
D1 Many people want the blessings of God without wanting God’s worldview, lifestyle, and the laws of His kingdom (this is not the 613 Mosaic Laws).
E1 John 6:15 NIV Jesus, knowing that they intended to come and make him king by force, withdrew again to a mountain by himself.
E2 John 6:26 NKJV Jesus answered them and said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw the signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled.
D2 We shouldn’t make too much of the details of what represents what lest we lose sight of what Jesus is teaching.
D3 The sheepfold is a place of safety. A few examples: here, here, here, and here.
D4 Only those authorized are allowed to enter the sheepfold. The shepherd knows His sheep. They are those who have believed and placed faith and trust in Jesus alone for forgiveness of sins.
D5 The strangers are those who have a false gospel, a false religion, a false belief system, a false ideology, etc.
D6 Verse 9, Jesus is the ONLY door. Acts 4:12 NKJV Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.
D7 Beware of false pastors. They only come to steal, kill, and destroy.
E1 Steal by making us buy their products, their books, their cures, their… You know what I mean.
E2 Kill because they have been exposed as evil. Their sins and doings become known publicly. Compare Ezekiel 34. This might those who lead revolutions to change the world. Seems there are many messiahs today all having the answer to all the world’s problems.
E3 Destroy by ruining their faith, causing apostasy, deconversion, rebellion against the religion of Jesus.
D8 Verse 11, Jesus is the voluntary and willing Passover Lamb.
D9 Again the response is either rejection, unwillingness to believe, slander or acceptance, willingness to believe, and speaking the truth.
C2 Jewish Opponents Try to Stone Jesus
D1 Verse 24, many times in words and deeds, Jesus has shown He is Messiah. Many prophecies have been fulfilled. They refuse to believe because of pride and love of sinful pleasures.
D2 Are one (verse 30) refers to one in essence, which is an essential understanding of the Godhead (Trinity).
D3 History repeats itself, even today. Psalms 78:22 WEB because they didn’t believe in God, and didn’t trust in his salvation.
B2 How do I apply this to my life? Believe God.
