2 Corinthians 6:15-7:1

  • by

Before going on with Romans 9, someone quotes this passage. I wanted to think over the passage and study it. What a difference between a believer and non-believer. May we always pray and be ready to share the faith. I thank God for all His promises.

15 What harmony does Christ have with Satan? What does a believer share with an unbeliever?
[There are only 2 worldviews—God’s or satan’s. The character traits of God (1 Corinthians 13:4-8a, 2 Peter 1:3-8, and Galatians 5:22-23) that are to be lived by believers are totally the opposite of satan’s. See Ephesians 2:2, Matthew 6:19-24, 1 John 2:15-17, Proverbs 1:7, and John 6:63].
16 What does the Temple of God have in agreement with idols? For youp are the Temple of the Living God, just as God has said, “I will live in them and walk in them. I will be their God, and they will be my people. [Leviticus 26:12, Jeremiah 32:38, and Ezekiel 37:27]
17 “So then come out from among them. Be separate,” says the Lord, “and do not touch [what is] unclean, then I will accept youp,
[Isaiah 52:11 and Ezekiel 20:34,41]
18 “And I will be a Father to youp, and youp will be my sons and daughters,” says the Lord Almighty.
[Compare 2Samuel 7:14, 7:8, Exodus 29:45, Leviticus 26:12, and Ezekiel 37:27].

2 Corinthians Chapter 7

Purify Our Hearts and Body
1 Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
[These promises are listed in 2 Corinthians 6:16-18. Cleansing concerns removing things that God hates (Matthew 15:19-20). See Galatians 5:16-26. The idea of perfecting is to put effort into getting rid of sin. Sin could be in thoughts, desires, words, and/or deeds. The more truth (daily Scripture study) into us (John 17:17 and Ephesians 5:26), the greater the knowledge of when temptation comes and how to handle it (1 Corinthians 10:13, James 4:7, and Ephesians 6:11-18). See also Psalm 119:9, 11,104, 1 Peter 1:22-23, and 2 Thessalonians 2:13. God gives grace to help us (Hebrews 7:25)].
