Jude 1:24-25 NKJV “ Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy. Jude 25 To God our Savior, Who alone is wise, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. Amen.”
V24 “Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, And to present you faultless Before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy…” Him is God, the one and only. The Greek word for “able” is (G1410) δύναμαι dynamai, which means have the ability to do something physically or mentally. I am not able to keep myself from stumbling, but God is able to give us protection, strength, discernment. The Greek word for “stumble” is (G679) ἄπταιστος aptaistos, which means to trip on something, stumble. It is used as an unknown obstacle to the Christian faith. It might be a temptation, a false Bible interpretation, a false pastor/teacher, or anything else that might cause us to drift from the faith. Compare Psalm 140:4, Jeremiah 18:15, and Jeremiah 50:32). We can be helped by wisdom (Psalm 119:165, Proverbs 3:13-23). To have wisdom we must know (read the Bible), understand (study the Bible), and gain wisdom (principles and example in the Bible and experience). God gives the strength to prevent us from stumbling (Isaiah 40:29-31). If we ask for forgiveness every day, we can be faultless, blameless. If we commit a sin even though we knew it was wrong, we will be forgiven but still have consequences. If we are faultless/blameless, then when we see Jesus, our Lord, we will not be ashamed but with have exceeding joy that God helped us, and we were obedient to the best of our ability and God’s help.
V25 “…to God our Savior, Who alone is wise, Be glory and majesty, Dominion and power, Both now and forever. Amen.” We cannot save ourselves—God is our savior. We do not have sufficient godly wisdom—God alone is wise. We cannot take glory—God is to receive glory. We do not have majesty—God has the greatest majesty. We do not have dominion—God is King of everything and everyplace. We do not have power—we need God’s power.
We learn:
• We are reminded that we NEED God’s help to live the Christian life.
• We learn that we do not have the ability to save or guard our faith.
