My Daily Thoughts—Ephesians 3:20-21

Ephesians 3:20-21 (WEL) Now to him who is able to do much more than all we ask or think, according to the power that works in us. 21 The glory be to him in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, forever and ever. Amen

V20 Now to him who is able to do much more than all we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.

Paul is finishing the first half of Ephesians, which deals with doctrine. He finishes this section with a prayer of praise to God for every spiritual and life blessing.

God is able. He created from nothing, sustains, destroys if He wishes, heals, blesses. He can do everything that He wants. See Luke 1:37, Matthew 19:26, and Jeremiah 32:17.

We can pray for something, and God can make it more than we pray or imagine.

That power, God Himself, lives within all those who believe in Him.

V21 To him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, forever and ever. Amen

He is worthy; He is good. He has blessed as only He could. Every church assembly should sing songs of thanksgiving and praise to our Christ Jesus. It will be so in all the eternal ages to come. It will never end, get old, or be untrue.

Pulpit Commentary: “Again the apostle’s favorite formula comes in,” in Christ Jesus,” to denote that this act of adoration is to be done in immediate connection with the work and person of Christ; for it is he who has brought about the whole condition of things from which the act of adoration springs. And this ascription of praise is not transitory; this view of the Divine character and actings will never become obsolete or be superseded by other views; it will claim their cordial ascriptions forever—literally, to all the generations of the age of the ages.”

We learn:

  • The praise and thankfulness that is bursting in our hearts.
  • There is nothing greater than His endless bounty and our endless praise.

Questions:

  • Are you thankful?
  • Are you aware of His great blessings in your life?
