My Daily Thoughts—John 6:39-40

John 6:39-40 (WEL) “This is the will of my Father who sent me, that I should not lose any of those given me, but I will raise them up on the last day. 40 “And this is the will of the one who sent me, that all who see the Son and believe in him may have everlasting life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”

V39 “This is the will of my Father who sent me, that I should not lose any of those given me, but I will raise them up on the last day.

Note, that Jesus was aware of His Father’s will, chose to obey, and did obey.

Principle: The Bible teaches us what the Christian life is by 1) knowing God’s lifestyle, 2) God’s worldview, 3) God’s way of life, and 4) God’s rules.

Jesus was sent. He received the commission and joyfully came for the purpose of being the Messiah, the Savior of the world.

It is God’s will that those who believe His message will not be lost and will be resurrected.

The last day refers to the last day of any time period set up and maintained by God.

  • The church age—the Rapture with the bodily resurrection of believers (receiving their new body) and the snatching of living believers to be with Jesus and the resurrection church age believers. See 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 and 1 Corinthians 15:51-52.
  • The last days for believing Jews and the tribulation believers who were martyred is the end of the Tribulation. See Daniel 12:2 and Revelation 20:4-6.
  • The last days for all unbelievers is the end of Millennium. See Revelation 20:11-15.

V40 “And this is the will of the one who sent me, that all who see the Son and believe in him may have everlasting life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”

Jesus also reveals God the Father’s will for believers. Those who believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ will have everlasting life and will have the resurrection of the blessed.

Death is separation. Physical death is the separation of body and immaterial (soul and spirit). Spiritual separation is separation from fellowship with God.

The Lake of Fire is not eternal death, it is eternal separation from God by experience for eternity in an environment with no light, no comfort, no pleasure, with the presence of torment, pain, darkness, restlessness, etc.

We learn:

  • God’s will for people to believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
  • God’s will for believers to have everlasting life and a blessed resurrection.

Questions:

  • Do you believe in the Gospel of Jesus Christ?
  • Do you have assurance of everlasting life and a blessed resurrection?
