John 15:26–27 (WEL) “But when the Helper comes (the Spirit of truth, whom I will send to you from the Father), he will testify about me. 27 “You testify about me, too, because you have been with me from the beginning.”
V26 “But when the Helper comes (the Spirit of truth, whom I will send to you from the Father), he will testify about me.
The Greek word for Helper is G3875 παράκλητος paráklētos, which means someone who stands beside us to help, advocate, or provide beneficial service for us. It can be as a helper, comforter, advocate, etc.
Comments:
(Pulpit Commentary): “Once more he promises great things and mighty aid in their conflict with the world’s hate by the mission of the Comforter.”
(Dr. Wilbur Pickering): “It is after the coming of the Helper that they will testify. In fact, they pretty much stayed in hiding until He came, but then they became bold as lions.”
Both the Father and the Son send the Holy Spirit. As Jesus does all things according to the will of His Father, when He sends the Holy Spirit, it is the Father who initiated it.
V27 “You testify about me, too, because you have been with me from the beginning.”
One of the ministries of the Holy Spirit is comfort in and through the trials of life, especially the Christian life, and another is to give us boldness to witness and tell the truth about the God of the Bible.
The Apostles are eyewitnesses of the ministry and teaching of Jesus Christ.
